The Haryana government has offered to provide 250-350 acre to the central government for setting up an institute along the lines of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi.
The site offered is located at village Badsa in Jhajjar district and the project will entail an investment of about Rs 1,000 crore.
A team from the Union health ministry has visited village Badsa to inspect the site for AIIMS and according to reports, the team liked the site leading to a strong possibility that now the prestigious institute will come up at this place.
It may be mentioned here that member of parliament, Deepender Hooda has been making all the right moves to make Badsa AIIMS a reality. Official sources point out Hooda had been in constant touch with Union health ministry on this.
If an AIIMS were to come up here, it would not only ensure better health services available to the people of the state, but would also help the development of the catchment area.
State principal secretary, health, Anuradha Gupta, has already discussed the geographical and social implications with the joint secretary of the Union health ministry, BN Prasad.
According to deputy commissioner, Jhajjar, Nitin Kumar Yadav, the proposed site was most suitable not only due to its close proximity to Delhi and Gurgaon-a city rapidly emerging as a major hub for the information technology and automobile industries-but also because it is close to the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) expressway.
Once completed, the 135.6-km long KMP expressway will provide high-speed link to northern Haryana with its southern districts such as Sonepat, Jhajjar, Gurgaon and Faridabad.
The proposed special economic zone in the region, availability of sufficient drinking water and land advantages are the other factors that tilted the proposal in favour of the proposed site in Haryana.
